The Spanish Lab
The Spanish Lab will introduce the Spanish language using fun and interactive methods to engage students. Students will receive direct instruction, work on projects, use technology and engage in discussions and games to learn Spanish in a fun way! Class includes a workbook and all materials needed for projects and activities.
The Reading and Writing Lab
The reading and writing lab uses research based methods to strengthen reading fluency and comprehension. Our small classes are designed for optimal engagement and support for each student. Students will receive direct instruction on various types of writing, correction and revision and final composition. Class includes a workbook and reading book.
The Lego Lab
Our Lego Lab is designed to focus on playful narrative-based problem-solving with relatable themes that can develop young students into independent STEAM thinkers. All lessons focus on national standards for both lower and upper elementary grades. During each lesson, students brainstorm and develop creative solutions through trial and error while collaborating with their peers. Class includes all materials, worksheets and legos!
Intensive Reading Lab
The intensive Reading Lab is designed for struggling readers. These class sizes will be kept to 5 students max and will include intervention methods to assist in approaching and reaching grade-level standards. The class will be aimed at fun using strategies that will assist in focused attention in a fun and incentive filled environment.

Dave Berger and Mike Unland lead the mathematics team at The Learning Lab. Together they have over 50 years of experience both in the classroom and as private math tutors. Highly sought after as private one-on-one tutors, they have tutored or taught every math class from Pre-Algebra to AP Calculus. As a result, they understand what it takes for your student to be successful in the classroom. The math courses at The Learning Lab are unique from ‘math tutoring’ offered elsewhere. The courses are specifically designed to accomplish three primary goals. First, the course will review and bolster the student’s knowledge of the concepts being currently taught in their school class that are necessary for success. Thus, each course will roughly run parallel to and be supportive of the math class they are currently taking. Second, a portion of the class time will be allocated toward answering the student’s specific math questions and difficult homework problems. The student often finds this very helpful with their immediate needs. Third, having constructed many math exams themselves, the instructors will help to strategically guide the student as to how to best prepare for their math exams. The students can even apply such strategies more generally to all of their school classes. We think this approach is unique to The Learning Lab and provides unmatched value for parents.
